After editing wordpress post , page , featured image when I am trying to save/update it is showing 404 page not found error

Solution : For some wordpress website you’ll face this problem. After editing wordpress post , page , featured image , widget when you’ll try to save/update it will showing 404 page not found error . First go to your wordpress dashboard settings ->permalinks option and then just click on save changes . This will update all of your permalinks . If after updating permalinks 404 page not found problem solve then fine otherwise you should edit your htacess file. You’ll find htaccess in cpanel / hosting where your website wp-content and wp-includes files are located . You should replace htaccess file with the following codes :

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

# END WordPress 
Now your 404 page not found problem should be solved .

After editing htacess file and after saving your permalinks again from wordpress settings if the problem do not solve then you should turn off your cpanel mod_security option .

If you want to disbale your cpanel mod_security option then just do the following tasks :

  1. Login to your cPanel.
  2. Below the Security section, click on Modsec Manager.
  3. mod_security will be on by default .
  4. Remove the checkmark beside the domain you want to disable mod_security option.
  5. Press on mod_security off , and then click Update.

    Then go to your wordpress website and edit your post /page /widget again then click on update /save . You’ll not get page not found error 404 .
